The reason is that your system is currently, they will be using Stock in Stock mode as opposed to the Legacy mode.
If you want to continue in Stock mode, then the Stock Period is closed by running the Month End Wizard.
If you don't want/need Stock Mode, then change the Control Parameter "Stock Module Process" to Legacy, and then the Stock period can be closed in Period Maintenance.
