From Upvise v10.1 onward, QR and barcode scanning on Android is handled by the native Android scanner, supplied through Google Play Services (not the Upvise app).
If Google Play Services is outdated, the scanner may not open or function correctly in Upvise.
What You May Notice
If the scanning component isn’t installed or is out of date, you may see:
The camera opens then closes immediately
A blank screen when scanning
“Cannot open camera” in Upvise, even though the camera works elsewhere
Nothing happens when you tap “Scan”
Devices More Likely to Have Issues
Samsung tablets
Lenovo tablets
Older or enterprise-managed Android devices
These devices often run outdated or restricted versions of Google Play Services.
Quick Requirement
Google Play Services must be v23.16.13 or higher
This requirement applies only to Android (iPhones are not affected)
? How to Fix / Check Your Device
