In Upvise, Roles are used to manage what users can see and do. You can use roles to give users access to view data, without letting them create or edit anything.


This is particularly useful for users who need visibility over project or punch item data but shouldn’t be able to make changes or create forms.


Note: The read-only functionality applies to forms module form creation also when enabled.


How to Set Up a Read-Only Role

Upvise user with Admin user types will have access to the below options. 

  1. Go to Settings in the Upvise web interface.

  2. Select Roles from the menu.

  3. Choose to edit an existing role or create a new one.

  4. Enable read-only access by selecting:

    • Projects: Read Only

    • Punch Items: Read Only
      (Tick one or both based on what access the user needs.) 

  5. Click Save to apply your changes to the role.

  6. Now, go to the Users section and assign this role to the appropriate user.

  7. If the user is currently logged in, tick “Force User to Change Password”This forces a logout and triggers a refresh of their local database and permissions when they next log in.
